Carmen Kong is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with a Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis from Western New England University in Massachusetts (MA), United States. She started working with the neurodiverse population in Malaysia from 2013-2016, conducting early intervention 1-1 sessions with clients aged 3-9.
Here, she focused mainly on pre-learning skills, communication skills, toilet training, small group teaching, self-help skills, case management and staff training. She was then recruited as a graduate assistant/level 2 teacher with the New England Center For Children (NECC) in Massachusetts while completing her masters studies in the field. In the 4 years at NECC, she worked with residential clients aged 9-15 with severe injurious and aggressive behaviors in a 1-1 to 1-3 grouped setting. At NECC, she focused mainly on leading and training staff on clinical projects to help clients with injurious behavior reduction, increasing communication skills, self-help skills, vocational skills, and social skills. Coming back to Malaysia, Carmen aims to expand ABA services, skills and knowledge to increase ethical and quality services for our neurodiverse learners as well advocate for stronger and better neurodiverse rights that are severely lacking here in Malaysia.
